This strikingly handsome Skye terrier mix is our fourth “musketeer”, D'Artagnan (Dart), he came to Home At Last Sanctuary, Inc. via Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center, Derwood MD. Dart entered their facility as a stray with no back story.
We do know he is a 22 pounds around 4 years old recently neutered boy up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. D'Artagnan is every vigilant and alert and monitors neighborhood goings on from one of his favorite windows or from the patio where the outdoor-loving dog loves to spend time. This wash and wear Terrier loves walking and is very aware of squirrels, bunnies, and other wildlife which he will dart at (Cat testing has not been done). Dart soaks up petting and affection like a sponge, and has recently begun nudging the arms of his foster parents every time they move their hand away.
D'Artagnan is an intelligent, alert, protective dog that reacts to loud noises, and loud voice, in a protective manner. He is reactive to fast moving bicycles, skateboards and joggers on the walk. He has not really lived with other dogs and does not currently understand dog play. He requires careful introductions to other dogs and may not be able to live with another dog without the family having the knowledge and ability to continue the training and socialization he is getting now. He cannot live with children that would have unpredictable behavior and does not have the ability to know when not to touch a dog.
At this time D'Artagnan is looking for a single-family house with a fenced yard large enough for him to run and burn energy in addition to 3 or more walks every single day for the rest of his life.
