WE ONLY PLACE DOGS IN HOMES WITHIN A ONE HOUR DRIVE FROM ROCKVILLE MD. We do not know the journey a dog makes before they arrive in rescue.  Sometimes there is history for a dog but many times there is none especially for dogs in southern states.  Astro arrived in a South Carolina October 2019 and was sent to us November 2019.  After his arrival we noticed he was not standing correctly so we had him examined by our veterinarian.  Astro was diagnosed with a dislocated left hip and a broken right ankle.  Astro’s injury happened many months prior to his arrival and had gone completely unnoticed until observed by his foster family.  Astro had surgery January 27, 2020 and as of today has the all clear to be adopted.  Astro has no limitations on his activities and will over time show no effects from this ordeal. Despite all Astro has gone through his foster family reports he is the most affectionate, happy, cuddly, snuggly EVER.  With more than a decade of experience his foster family can assure you, you will not find a dog more so anywhere.     Astro is an excitable dog and an alert barker.  His foster family has been working with him.  It will take some time for him to mature and received continued training. Meet Astro, a 2 year old, Terrier mix.  Astro is 17 pounds of scruffy sweetness!  He loves other dogs and has kisses for everyone he meets.  Astro loves attention from everyone. He will not be placed in homes with kids under the age of 10.  He's a playful boy but settles nicely. Astro loves to snuggle up with his family and would love a home where people are around him in the day. Astro likes other dogs but is more partial to those similar to his own size.  He is well-mannered and appears to be house trained.  He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and preventatives and eager to find a family to love! 3/16/20 Astro has been placed in his new home. We are no longer taking applications. We keep their profile active for short period to make sure we got it right. Dogs listed here come from different sources Some dog's owner have passed and their family could not care for their companion, some lifestyle has changed and a new home would be in the best interest of their companion. Some are foster dogs placed in our care by different rescue groups.  Each dog may have a different process for adopting animals and charge different adoption fees.

You may be called by a volunteer, you may receive an email asking additional information or you may be requested to complete and Additional Information form. Please look our emails for further information.  We are all volunteers so we will get to you as soon as we can.

We place dogs within a one hour drive from Rockville MD. we concentrate our adoptions in these areas only. With our limited resources, applications outside of our immediate service area will not be accepted, no exceptions.  We take all animals to the home visit and meet and greet before they are adopted.
