DEWEY'S ADOPTION IS PENDING. WE ARE NOT TAKING ANY MORE APPLICATIONS AT THIS TIME. 

Meet Dewey, a loving and handsome 4 year-old, 14lb, male Shih-Tzu. Dewey comes to us from one of our local shelter partners in Baltimore City, where he was taken from his "owner" for cruelty and abuse. Dewey exemplifies what makes dogs so wonderful. His innate good nature and warm personality triumphed over his fears, and the physical discomfort he endured. Despite entering our care with horrible matting on his tiny little body-which caused severe physical discomfort, there was a great little dog under there just waiting to come out. It's amazing the difference it makes to a dogs disposition once they have had a bath, been de-matted, and given love ...Dewey is the perfect example of that.

Dewey was neutered soon after placement in his current foster home, and is fully vetted and ready to find his new family. Dewey’s past is behind him and he is free to indulge in just being a dog. This has been a journey for Dewey, as well as his foster family. Dewey’s foster family reports he LOVES TOYS and is always selecting a new favorite, he like to chew on antlers, he loves walks and prefers "doing his business" on the walk. He is fully house trained, and enjoys looking out the window or perching on the steps in the house so he can see everything going on outside  Dewey is currently living with another foster, a Chow Chow, with whom he has a great relationship. Dewey will bark when he hears noises outside and when new people come in, therefore apartment or condo living would not be ideal for him.

Dewey is up-to-date with all standard vaccinations and is ready for his forever home. When Dewey first entered rescue, he did have a few bite incidents-nothing serious, but they were strictly due to fear. This is not uncommon amongst dogs coming from abuse cases. But that was when he first came to rescue. Since then, no snapping or biting has occurred 

To help ensure a happy match between Dewey and his forever home, he will not be placed with children under the age of fifteen.

Dogs listed here come from different sources Some dog's owner have passed and their family could not care for their companion, some lifestyle has changed and a new home would be in the best interest of their companion. Some are foster dogs placed in our care by different rescue groups.  Each dog may have a different process for adopting animals and charge different adoption fees.

You may be called by a volunteer, you may receive an email asking additional information or you may be requested to complete and Additional Information form. Please look our emails for further information.  We are all volunteers so we will get to you as soon as we can.

We place dogs within a one hour drive from Rockville MD. we concentrate our adoptions in these areas only. With our limited resources, applications outside of our immediate service area will not be accepted, no exceptions.  We take all animals to the home visit and meet and greet before they are adopted.
